Stucco Repair

Stucco Repair

Stucco is an element that has been used in homes for a while now. It may not be as popular today as it was back in the ’90s and early ‘00s. It is still, however, a common element that you are bound to find in homes. There are actually 2 types of stucco. There is the hard coat stucco and the one known as EIFS. This last stucco is made from synthetic materials. There are a variety of different ways that we have to be able to repair these structures. There are a couple of things though that we have to know before we can actually get to work.

Hardcoat vs EIFS
We don’t mean to start a debate here over what type of stucco is better than the other. We actually believe that each type can work well depending on the circumstances. What we are saying is that you need to know what type of stucco you are dealing with before you attempt any type of repair. That is the first thing that we are actually going to do when we arrive on your property. This is not an overly complex process. Just by touching the stucco you may be able to tell the difference. It is important though that we know what we are dealing with.

What Is The Nature Of The Issue?
Not all of the problems that you are going to have with your walls or
ceilings whether they be stucco or not are going to come from an excessive amount of pressure put on them. With EIFS it is actually to see issues pop up thanks to an equally excessive amount of moisture that has sort of bleed through the surface. These types of repairs are usually going to be much different than the normal patching up that is done on most other walls.

Moisture Issues
Staying on the subject of moisture issues we thought it would be important to highlight how we intend to deal with these problems. The first thing that we are going to have to do is remove several coatings of the stucco to reveal the layer that has originally been damaged. As you can probably imagine these types of repairs are going to be more extensive since we may have to remove a larger portion of the surface. That does not necessarily mean though that these types of repairs are going to take a longer time to be ready or anything like that.

Don’t Overlook Signs Of A Problem
We are going to allow ourselves to give out some advice here. We could make the argument that a lot of the major repairs that we end up doing could have been solved in a quicker manner if they were reported on time. We really believe that people should make an effort not to overlook the different types of issues that they could be facing. The quicker you call the more likely it is that the repair can be handled in a swift manner.
